Industrialization of volume and consumables reporting
Context
At each composition and post-composition, technical reports were generated (e.g. envelope listing with page count, postage, postal code, paper, inserts, brand). These files were occasionally used for analysis, but manual exploitation was time-consuming and did not allow a global view of volumes or reliable tracking over time. The need was to transform this data into consolidated indicators, usable both for steering (COPIL) and operations.
Objectives
- Automate exploitation of composition/post-composition reports to produce consolidated statistics
- Provide fully configurable processing (discriminants, periodicity, counters) adapted to business and operational needs
- Enable volume variation control (month/month, year/year) and inconsistency detection
- Export usable reports (CSV/Excel) for cost steering and consumables anticipation
Approach
Implementation of a Perl processing reading technical reports generated by document chains and aggregating information according to configuration. The config allows defining discriminants (e.g. brand, inserts, typology), analysis periodicity (weekly/monthly/yearly) and counter type (envelopes/pages). Aggregations produce indicators for steering (annual costs, marketing breakdown via inserts, paper vs dematerialization trend) and operations (variation validation, consistency checks, consumables tracking). Automatic generation of CSV and Excel outputs via Spreadsheet::WriteExcel library, with structure adapted for consultation and sharing.
